Announcement!

November 4, 2014

Hello everyone! This is a notification to let you all know that my blog has MOVED! I decided to purchase a hosting plan and a domain, so I will no longer be using this specific blog. You can now find me at beautycleric.com

I wanted to just port all of the stuff already here over to the new blog (and keep my followers/people signed up via email), however, being the wordpress newb that I am, I couldn’t figure out how to do it. So I basically started fresh, moved over some of the content that I wanted to keep, and will be posting on beautycleric.com from now on.

If you’d like to continue reading my blog, please go subscribe to my new one! Right now you can subscribe via email and follow on bloglovin (or social media).

(And if anyone knows how to get the little wordpress follow button on a website that is hosted outside of wordpress…please let me know. I’m still using wordpress to publish the blog, but it’s hosted on outside hosting. So I have a lot more control, but can’t figure out if people can still “follow” like you can on a normal wordpress blog).

I hope those of you following here will go find me on the new blog 🙂 I’m looking forward to being more active and making a little community on here.

Also, I will be DELETING this blog soon. I don’t want the content floating around out on the interwebs while it’s on my new site too.

[News] Look What Arrived from Korea Yesterday =)

March 20, 2014

holy cat

It’s an eyeshadow trio by Holika Holika called “Holy Cat.” I think the shade is called #2 Khaki Smoky Cat.

Trying it out today! Will write a first impressions later and a full review later on.

The two free samples were Mizon’s Returning Starfish Cream, which is basically a night cream with starfish extract. (I have no clue what that’s supposed to do).

[News] Free Almay Makeup at Walgreens!

March 12, 2014

20140311_185024

So, if you follow this blog you know I love makeup. But another one of my hobbies is extreme couponing! I also have a blog for that (where I list my hauls each week) that you can check out here.

Now, I understand couponing is not for everyone. BUT, when you can make use of some simple coupons, you can score free makeup! Even if you don’t normally coupon, this is a great deal.

Over on my coupon blog, I just listed my Walgreens haul from yesterday. I figured I’d make a post here too in case anyone wants to go grab some of the good Almay deals at Walgreens! Below, I will explain how to do it in case you don’t know how to coupon.

Everything you see in the picture above (the makeup removers and the eyeshadows) I got for FREE! Plus, I received a coupon for a free Almay cosmetic bag (which will be shipped to me soon). The eyeshadows are the Shadow Softies, so I’m excited to try these out and give a review of them! I may go back and get more. They were picked over at my Walgreens, but I’m planning a visit back home on Friday, so I will check both Walgreens stores there too!

Here’s how to get some free makeup at Walgreens this week:

First, you need to print the Almay manufacturer coupon. You can do so here. That link will take you to coupons.com and the Almay coupon ($5 off any purchase of 2 Almay products) will already be selected. If you have never printed coupons before, you need to download the coupon printer. Then you can print 2 copies of that Almay coupon.

If you have access to more than 1 computer, you can print more copies. It is limited to 2 per computer. Where I work, I have access to four computers, plus my home computers, so I print a lot of copies!

Next, you will need the Walgreens coupon for $2 off Almay products. This can be found in the March Savings book, a monthly coupon book Walgreens prints. These are located at the front of any Walgreens store, and you can find them at any time of the month. Just look at the table of contents in the front of the book to find what page the Almay coupon is on. This coupon will deduct $2 from EACH Almay makeup product you buy! (It only has to be scanned once, and it will deduct the appropriate amount of money).

If you can print a lot of the manufacturer coupons and plan on buying a lot of makeup at Walgreens, you can also cut the “points booster” coupon out of the Walgreens weekly ad. This will give you 5,000 points if you spend over $25. The $25 must be reached AFTER all Walgreens discounts and coupons are applied. However, you can use the manufacturer coupons to bring that $25 total down. If you don’t have a Walgreens card, you can sign up for one and link it to your smart phone. You can sign up online (I think!) or in store. Once you accumulate 5,000 in points, you can redeem them for $5 off of your purchase. The more points you accrue, the better the dollar amount rewards are.

Almay foundations, primers, concealers, blushes, powders, eye makeup, and makeup removers are on sale at Walgreens this week: buy 1 get 1 50% off. You can use this sale price, plus the Walgreens coupon, plus the manufacturer coupons to score free makeup! You can also get those 5000 extra points! And if you buy at least 3 Almay items, you should get a coupon (print out at the cash register) for the free cosmetic bag.

So go to Walgreens and look at the makeup. Pick out what you want, and calculate how much the items will be before you go to the register. Be warned: Walgreens does NOT typically give overage on a coupon, so you manufacturer coupons may beep at you at the register. Mine did not, but yours might, especially if you are only getting the Almay products. If this happens, ask the cashier to adjust the manufacturer coupons down. You can get items for free at Walgreens, but they don’t apply the overage to the rest of your purchase.

FOR EXAMPLE: If you buy 2 makeup removers at $5.99 each, one will ring up as $5.99 and the other will ring up as $2.99, because of the 50% off sale. That totals to $8.98. When the Walgreens coupon is scanned, it will deduct $4 since you bought 2 items. That leaves you with $4.98. You can now use the $5/2 manufacturer coupon. HOWEVER, the coupon is for $5 off and the total is only $4.98. Therefore, the cashier may need to adjust the coupon down to $4.98 instead of $5!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments below. I’m happy to try to help! I was able to get the free cosmetic bag, 2 packs of makeup wipes, 2 eyeshadows, and 4 of the eye makeup remover wipes all for FREE! (Plus I’m planning on going back for more!!) I just got really excited about this awesome deal and wanted to share.

[New Products] Reviews coming soon!

March 11, 2014

20140308_200800

So I was at Walmart the other day because I wanted to buy the EcoTools Custom Buffing Brush. I found it! So I’m glad I got that (about $7). But I happened to wander by the clearance section and found another EcoTools brush (Kabuki brush) on sale for only $3.50! I didn’t really need another kabuki brush, but I couldn’t pass up such a great deal!

I’ve been using both the kabuki brush and the buffing brush for my daily makeup (a foundation I’m testing for L’Oreal). I will try them with my regular foundation as soon as the test period for the L’Oreal foundation is over. Then I can write a review ^_^

Additionally I picked up the Pantene Rehab Creme for my hair…couldn’t resist. My hair needs some help! I think it’s time for a hair cut this weekend (sad face). I’m trying to grow my hair out, but every time it’s time to trim, my hair hasn’t grown much. I use a flat iron every day, so I guess it ruins my ends. (I need a way around that, any suggestions? My hair is a mess if I don’t straighten it!)

Additionally I picked up the Olay moisturizer in the picture above. It came with a little trial size of an Olay cleanser. It was only $5, instead of $13!

Anyway, that was just a little update about some items I’ve picked up and will be reviewing soon!

Beauty Blog is Getting a Makeover :)

February 21, 2014

So…after lots of back and forth about what to do with this blog, I have finally decided to keep it going, revamp it, and stick to it.

I have wanted to create a beauty blog for a long time, but because I was busy with school, I couldn’t keep it updated. Once I got out of school, I moved to a location that has limited internet, so it’s basically impossible to upload videos as I had planned. It takes up too much data, and I don’t have anywhere quiet to film, either.

However, that will change, hopefully in the next few months. If I can find a house, I’ll be moving. After I save a bit more money of course 🙂 In the mean time, I will just make use of posting detailed posts on the blog with pictures, and not worry about having a video to go along with everything.

I hope to make the blog very active, with at least 3 posts a week. Reviews will take longer to come since I have to test out the products, but there will be other posts like articles, DIY stuff, first impressions, hauls, etc.

I’ll be editing the design/graphics/layout/etc too. In the process of making a new graphic. Just need to take a picture first. (Since I changed the name from The Beauty Scholar Ryn to Beauty Cleric).

Thanks for reading~!

Coupon Sunbae

So, I opened a couponing blog to keep track of all my couponing adventures. I need to update it. Probably tonight. Or possibly tomorrow, since my internet data has depleted at home…

Announcement [semi-hiatus from Youtube]

June 26, 2013

Hello everyone,

So I have an announcement to make. Unfortunately, the videos may be VERY slow in coming. I was really excited about starting a Youtube and website, but a couple of weeks after I started it, I got a job. I just graduated this past May, so I was looking for full time work. The job I have is a temporary assignment, but it is likely it will lead to permanent employment. My job required me to move two hours away from where I lived previously. Unfortunately, where I am living now is kind of far out, away from town. So the internet is still on a limited data plan. We don’t have access to unlimited cable internet yet =(

Since my internet is limited, I can’t really upload videos. It just takes SO much data to upload and process videos to Youtube. It doesn’t take much data to just surf the internet, though. So I may still film some videos, edit them, and then look for some free Wi-Fi to upload occasionally. It is just a lot harder now to do all of this. Plus, where I currently live, I share a room with my boyfriend in his parents’ home. So there isn’t a lot of quiet space that I have to myself that is good for filming! This is temporary until we can afford to move out. I plan on moving somewhere with unlimited internet =) But this may be a long time coming!

Anyway, point is, I’ve been MIA from the website. I’ve decided to try and keep the blog going and just post things that I would normally film. I will try to film some too.

I have the footage for a DIY Chai Sugar Scrub bar video that I need to edit. Maybe I can go to Panera or the library…or the university where I work…and steal the WiFi this weekend xD

I’m also making DIY Healing Salve tonight. I’ll try to film it. I can make a post about it too.

Additionally, I’ve got some new makeup I need to make a post about and then do a review on. I also have the newest Ipsy bag!

I hope all of this stuff will come soon. The blog is easier to maintain than Youtube, but I have a ton of hobbies so when I come home from work, I can really only choose one a night =P

See you soon,

Ryn

Update =)

May 22, 2013

Well, I accepted a job that requires me to move 2 hours away, so I’ve been preoccupied. BUT the DIY video on Chai Sugar Scrub bars is still coming soon. I just need to piece together the footage and do a quick voice over. Also coming is a full review on some face masks, DIY salt scrubs, and a “new at the drugstore” video. (Plus a haul!)

Hopefully I’ll have time to film tomorrow and edit the sugar scrub video. =]
